It will be at uncomfortable sight for Carlton fans in 2026, seeing a Silvagni wearing a football jumper that isn't the classic navy blue (potentially black and white stripes).

Third generation footballer Jack Silvagni told the club on Tuesday that he will exercise his right as a free agent to depart the football club at the end of the season, with rivals Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs the favourites to secure his signature.

His father Stephen played 312 games for the club from 1985-2001, while his grandfather Sergio playing 239 from 1958-1971.

Jack himself has played 128 games for Carlton, continuing his family’s famous legacy at the club.

But on Wednesday he delivered a touching tribute to the club and its fans that helped start his career.

"Thank you for giving me the opportunity to live out my dream," Silvagni wrote on Instagram.

"Ever since I was a little boy, all I wanted to do was play for Carlton. For 10 years I was fortunate enough to live out that dream and it is something I will be forever grateful for. The honour of pulling on the guernsey and the responsibility that comes with that has and never will be lost on me.

"I’m incredibly proud to have played 100 games and forever have my name on the locker underneath my Nonno and Dad, especially when there were times it looked like I may not make it.

"While I may no longer be playing, I will always consider my self a Carlton person and definitely a Carlton supporter."

Silvagni played his final game for the club in round 16 against Port Adelaide, before a groin injury ruled him out for the season.

He is believed to be weighing up offers worth around $650,000 a season over four years from the Magpies and Dogs.

It's not the first time a Silvagni departs the club with mixed emotions, after Jack's father Stephen, who served as Carlton list manager from 2014-2019, left on sour terms with the Blues before taking up the same role at St Kilda.
