It wouldn't be a Brownlow medal count without some suspect polling, but this might just take the cake.

In round 20 against Melbourne, Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera almost singlehandedly brought the Saints back from a 46-point three-quarter time deficit in a record-breaking comeback, but he wasn't the best afield - in the eyes of the umpires.

For 34 disposals, four goals (including the game-winning major after the siren) and 749 metres gained, Wanganeen-Milera only polled two votes, while Melbourne's Jack Viney instead took home the three votes, with just 23 disposals and one goal (albeit an impressive 16 tackles!).

To make matters worse, Viney's brain lapse when lining up for the Saints' winning inside-50 entry helped Wanganeen-Milera break free to take the mark that gave the Saints the win.

It was a surprise decision that left most of the room in audible shock as Andrew Dillon read out the votes, with Melbourne stars Max Gawn and Christian Petracca unable to contain their laughter.

Despite the oversight, Wanganeen-Milera polled a career-best 23 votes, good enough for equal ninth-place in the overall count.
