The Brisbane Lions and the Hawthorn Hawks will play their final home-and-away match in Round 24 of the 2025 Australian Football League season at the Gabba as the latter side look to confirm their spot in the Top Eight.

With seven victories and only one defeat in their first eight games, the Lions appeared to be the team to beat this season.  But after their unexpected 71-71 draw with North Melbourne, that form abruptly vanished. After that, Brisbane was only able to win two of their five games.  They have subsequently recovered, though, winning four in a row. They have since suffered a drop in form yet again, and two wins in four games means they have dropped to third.

Hawthorn enter the clash in fifth place on the ladder, having posted 13 wins and seven losses so far. A dip in form midway through the season saw them stumble, but they quickly bounced back with four straight victories. Heading into Round 24, the last five games have seen the Hawks take four wins and just one loss .

The Sporting News looks at the key details ahead of this game, including how to watch the match, kickoff times, and the latest lineup news.
