Sebastian Fundora vs. Tim Tszyu airs on July 20 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The main card starts at 10 a.m. AEST. The main event should begin around 1:15 p.m. AEST, depending on how long the undercard fights last. Fundora and Tszyu should make their way to the ring around 12:15 p.m. AEST.
Fundora (22-1-1) beat Erickson Lubin in 2022 for the interim WBC super welterweight title but lost the belt against Brian Mendoza. Given another shot to impress, Fundora did exactly that against Tszyu last March.
Tszyu (25-2) held interim WBO super welterweight gold and became a dominant force while waiting for a fight against Jermell Charlo. He was eventually elevated to full-time champion status.
When the two faced off last March, Tszyu landed 175 of 400 shots (44%), while Fundora landed 194 of 721 (27%), the latter winning. Tszyu was bleeding badly around his eye following an accidental elbow. Fundora was also bleeding by the nose, and the two engaged in a bloody slugfest for twelve rounds.
It took a while for the Sydney-born Tszyu to return to form after that fight, getting brutally knocked out against Bakhram Murtazaliev in October. He recovered with a win against Joseph Spencer in April.
Fundora beat Chordale Booker in March and vacated the WBO title for this fight to happen. Now, two warriors compete in what could be an epic rematch.
