Two-time Australia Cup winners Melbourne Victory have been shocked 4-3 by NPL side Olympic Kingsway in the Australia Cup round-of-32 at Kingsway Reserve.
Victory, who have never been beaten in a competitive match by an NPL side, went down in extra time to the Western Australia double winners on Tuesday night.
Under coach Arthur Diles once again, it was Victory's first competitive match since losing last season's A-League Grand Final 1-0 to Melbourne City.
Featuring a strong side and new signings such as Louis D'Arrigo and Keegan Jelacic, the match started well for Victory, who took the lead through Jordi Valadon in the 23rd minute.
But the advantage only lasted three minutes as former Perth Glory midfielder Mitchell Oxborrow converted a penalty after a handball in the box.
Just before half-time, Victory secured the lead once again, as Jelacic scored on debut after an assist from Nikos Vergos.
Kingsway continued to threaten regularly in the second-half, striking the crossbar six minutes after the restart but earned their reward on 70 minutes.
After a corner wasn't cleared by Victory, Kingway striker Joseph Hobson volleyed into the roof of the net to make the score 2-2.
When Victory substitute Josh Rawlins was given a straight red on 78 minutes for a studs-up challenge, Kingsway looked poised to snare the win.
But experienced midfielder Reno Piscopo seemed destined to put 10-man Victory into the final 16 with his curling shot into the top corner putting the visitors 3-2 up in the 88th minute.
However, the drama wasn't over as Kingsway veteran Liam Boland - the Australia Cup all-time scorer - equalised on 93 minutes following an excellent cross from Lebib Lebib.
With the match going to extra-time, Boland secured a famous win for Kingsway with an 101st minute penalty after Jelacic brought down Laat Mathiang in the box.
