Lachlan Coote has revealed a desire to play at five-eighth next season, should he leave North Queensland.

Coote, whose contract is set to expire at the season's end is the subject of interest from both the Roosters and Dragons.

The nifty fullback has already informed both clubs of his desired positional swap.

"I am fortunate enough to be in a good position to be playing football and have some other offers from other clubs," Coote told The Sydney Morning Herald.

"If I happen to go to another team and they needed me as a five-eighth that is always an option.

"Nearly every other fullback is a running five-eighth. Guys like [Josh] Dugan and [James] Tedesco and [Darius] Boyd are all pretty much running fullbacks but I play off Johnno like another half and I think it suits our game well" he added.

It is said that Trent Robinson would welcome Coote to a five-eight berth while Paul McGregor would prefer to play the former Panther in his preferred role at fullback.

Is Coote biting off more than he can chew or would a move to five-eighth pay dividends for the Cowboys fullback?
