Jayden Reed exited with an injury for the Green Bay Packers as they took on the Washington Commanders on "Thursday Night Football" to start Week 2.
Reed attempted to come down with a deep pass from quarterback Jordan Love in the first quarter, but landed awkwardly as a defender sprawled on top of him. He was able to come off the field under his own power, and then collapsed on the sideline in pain. He was taken into the blue medical tent and then escorted to the locker room.

Jayden Reed injury updates
Reed appeared to get hurt on a would-be touchdown for the Packers. He landed awkwardly in the end zone with a Commanders defender on top of him, but the touchdown wouldn't have counted anyway because of a flag.

Reed ended up leaving the field and going into the blue medical tent. When he came out, he put a towel over his head and was escorted to the locker room for more testing. The broadcast said that Reed could take only a few steps before having to take a second to gather himself and then continue. He was taken into the X-ray room to be evaluated by doctors.
The Packers have said that it was officially a shoulder injury and that the wide receiver was questionable to return.

After the game, head coach Matt LaFleur said Reed was diagnosed with a fractured collarbone. He will be added to injured reserve, which means he will miss at least the next four games for the Packers. Currently, Green Bay does expect him to return this season. The hope is that he is able to return in six to eight weeks,.

Packers WR depth chart
Position | Player |
1 | Jayden Reed - OUT |
2 | Matthew Golden |
3 | Romeo Doubs |
4 | Dontayvion Wicks |
5 | Savion Williams |
6 | Malik Heath |
7 | Christian Watson - OUT |
One of the Packers' top offensive strengths is their depth. Even without Christian Watson, who has two career seasons with at least 600 receiving yards but is recovering from a long-term injury, on top of the new Reed injury, Green Bay still has a group of notable wide receivers.
Matthew Golden, the team's first-round selection in April, will likely take on the most significant load without Reed. While Golden has just two receptions over the first two weeks of the season, the team invested heavily in his talent in the draft. As time goes on, Golden is the leading candidate to distance himself as the team's WR1.
Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks are also fairly proven NFL receivers, and they're off to strong starts in 2025. Doubs caught a touchdown pass in Thursday's win over Washington and has 96 yards in two games, while Wicks has posted 74 receiving yards thus far.
Savion Williams and Malik Heath are two more Packers depth receivers, while Watson's eventual return will represent a nice boost as well.
Add in the fact that Tucker Kraft (eight catches, 140 yards, two touchdowns this season) is developing into a star at tight end, and Green Bay shouldn't have too much stress without Reed moving forward, especially considering Jordan Love likes to dish the ball around to various receivers.
