Canberra Raiders outside back Albert Hopoate will be on the lookout for a new club after his departure was confirmed at the end of the 2025 season. Having battled setbacks across the year, the 23-year-old now hits the open market following a four-year stint in the nation’s capital.
Hopoate joined the Raiders in 2021 and broke into first grade the following year, going on to make 37 NRL appearances in green.
Despite injuries disrupting his progress, he maintained a reputation as a dependable finisher, crossing for 13 tries in the top flight and never looking out of place when called upon.

Consistency at reserve grade level
Alongside his senior contributions, Hopoate featured regularly in the NSW Cup, where he racked up 32 games for the Raiders. His efforts in 2024 were rewarded with the club’s NSW Cup Player of the Year award, underlining his consistency and resilience.
The Raiders paid tribute to Hopoate and five other departing players, Jamal Fogarty, Danny Levi, Trey Mooney, Pasami Saulo and Jordan Martin, acknowledging the impact each had made during their time in Canberra. In a club statement, they said all six had left their mark and wished them and their families well for the future.
For Hopoate, the next chapter now beckons. With proven ability at NRL and reserve grade level, he is likely to attract interest from rivals seeking a versatile and skilful backline option.
