On the same night ex-Bronco Herbie Farnworth was named 2025 Dolphins player of the year, there are multiple reports that another Redcliffe favourite is heading to Red Hill.
While it’s been one-way player traffic between the two rivals since the Dolphins entered the NRL in 2023, the arrival of 26-year-old forward Aublix Tawha marks one of the very rare occasions when the Broncos have secured a current first-grade Dolphin.
Despite showing promise in the latter stages of 2025, Tawha was ultimately squeezed out of Kristin Woolf’s squad with multiple first-choice forwards nearing returns from long-term injuries including Tom Flegler, Tom Gilbert and Max Plath.
Tawha spent the first half of the 2025 season in Q Cup with Redcliffe before making his NRL debut in Round 16 against Newcastle and going on to play nine games in the top grade.

Memorably, Tawha was one of four players sin binned after locking horns with Spencer Leniu and Naufahu Whyte in the fiery Suncorp Stadium clash with the Roosters in Round 23.
Tawha’s addition provides depth cover for the Broncos pack with the departure of Fletcher Baker in 2026, and follows a string of late season forward extensions including Corey Jensen, Cory Paix and Ben Talty who announced a new two-deal earlier this week.
With Māori and Dutch heritage, New Zealand born Tawha has also represented the Netherlands in rugby union.
