Jake Trbojevic defies retirement fears, commits to playing on in 2026 image

Jake Trbojevic has confirmed that he will continue playing through the 2026 season, quelling fears he might be forced into medical retirement.

The Daily Telegraph reported the news, highlighting the Sea Eagles' veteran's decision amid recent concerns over his health.

Trbojevic has endured three concussions in four months, with the latest occurring in Round 23 against the Raiders.

He left the field just before half-time and has missed the following two-weeks due to the NRL's concussion protocols.

The 31-year-old has been central to the Sea Eagles for over a decade, playing 241-games in maroon and white.

Despite the recent setbacks, Trbojevic insists that he feels fortunate for his career thus far.

"I’ve been able to play for a while for Manly and had a really enjoyable career with all my brothers," he said.

"I guess you play this game, there’s lots of things that could go wrong.

"You sign a waiver knowing these sorts of things could happen.

"If it was to come to an end I would be sad, but I’ll be fine with it."

Manly are still a mathematical chance of making the top-eight despite their shaky form throughout 2025.

Whilst concerns over his history of concussions persist, Jake's comments suggest that both he and the club believe they can manage the risks safely into the future.
