With the June 30 NRL transfer deadline fast approaching, a surprising number of high-profile star players could be on the move. Let’s take a look at the leading candidates.

Daly Cherry-Evans – Transfer Probability: 2/10

After being dropped from Queensland’s Origin side, whispers of a shock Roosters switch have continued to gather momentum for the long-time Manly captain.

While early speculation focused on a 2026 contract, Manly’s poor form and a potential Round 17 loss to the Wests Tigers, could be enough to open the door for DCE to walk over to Bondi.

Mounting pressure on coach Anthony Seibold and rumours of player unrest only add fuel to the fire.

However, with the Sea Eagles just one point outside the top eight, and the Roosters' young halves in strong form, a deal this week remains unlikely.

David Fifita – Transfer Probability: 4/10

After backflipping on a move to the Roosters, 2025 has not gone to plan for the Titans marquee back-rower.

Strangely relegated to the bench or extended squad by coach Des Hasler—and with conflicting injury reports swirling—questions about Fifita’s future continue to grow.

Rumours of interest from Wayne Bennett’s Rabbitohs or even a return to the Broncos persist.

But the biggest hurdle remains his massive $1 million-plus contract. If Souths or Brisbane refuse to pay a premium, a cashed-up club like Parramatta—reeling from the loss of Dylan Brown and several other key players—may make a play.

Selwyn Cobbo – Transfer Probability: 7/10

From recent Origin star to reserve grade, it’s been a swift fall from grace for the prodigiously talented Cobbo.

The Broncos’ tight salary cap and recent re-signing of winger Josiah Karipani and signing of in-form Storm back Grant Anderson has seen Cobbo sign for 2026 with the Dolphins.

Whilst Brisbane has recently baulked at letting Cobbo leave early that was partly due to their hope they could still retain him.

Now that Cobbo has officially signed to leave coupled with the unfortunate season ending ACL injury to Dolphins winger Jack Bostock, we could see renewed motivation from both parties to strike a deal.

As the deadline looms, expect a flurry of movement. Beyond the headline names, starting-calibre players like Toby Sexton, Tallyn Da Silva, and Ryan Matterson could also be valuable pickups for clubs gearing up for a late-season surge.

Buckle up—transfer season is here.
