Roosters focused on Eels as finals window opens—‘Burn the boats, let’s go’ image

The surging Sydney Roosters can all but secure their place in the NRL finals with a win over the Eels in Round 25.

Following the Dolphins’ 28-point loss to a DCE-inspired Manly in Saturday’s early game, Trent Robison’s side has been given some welcome breathing space and will remain in the top eight come Sunday night even with a loss.

Not that losing is on their mind.

Speaking ahead of the clash with Parramatta at CommBank Stadium, Robinson said his squad’s late-season surge has come from remaining laser focused on the immediate task at hand—something he expects to continue against the Eels.

“We know what’s on the line, we have to deliver,” Robinson said.

“There’s been an edge about us (in recent weeks) and we need to maintain that, we need to keep putting our foot down.

“It’s having the desire to win the moment that you’re in, that’s been really high, and that needs to be there again (against the Eels).

“You can get dreamy about what’s next, but the dreams haven’t gone past the weekend each week for us—it’s burn the boats, let’s go!”

Asked about the potential arrival of Daly Cherry-Evans and if current Roosters halves Sam Walker and Hugo Savala will continue to be starting halves into 2026, Robinson again wouldn’t be drawn beyond this weekend.

“Saturday night, I know they’re our starting halves, that’s all I’m focused on,” he grinned.
