Week 5 marks the start of NFL bye weeks. While those players will take a vacation, fantasy football managers must navigate holes these off-weeks create in their lineups.

Luckily, one-quarterback (1QB) fantasy leagues -- the standard format for these games -- offer plenty of choices for replacing those signal-callers taking a breather.

Keep reading for our early Week 5 fantasy rankings for quarterbacks.

Week 5 fantasy QBs on bye

Remove these quarterbacks from your fantasy lineups this week:

  • Atlanta Falcons: Michael Penix Jr., Kirk Cousins
  • Chicago Bears: Caleb Williams
  • Green Bay Packers: Jordan Love
  • Pittsburgh Steelers: Aaron Rodgers

Fantasy QB injury alerts this week

  • Lamar Jackson (hamstring) is OUT. Cooper Rush starts for the Baltimore Ravens.
  • Brock Purdy (toe) is out for Week 5. Mac Jones would start for the San Francisco 49ers against the Los Angeles Rams if Purdy can't go on Thursday Night Football.
  • We're still awaiting Jayden Daniels (knee) news and whether Marcus Mariota will replace him again for the Washington Commanders against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Who are the best fantasy QBs this week?

Josh Allen is in a tier of his own at the top versus the New England Patriots. His opponent, Drake Maye, is near the top, justifiably. The two dual-threat arms should pile up plenty of points.

Continue trusting Justin Herbert, Jared Goff, Jalen Hurts, and Dak Prescott. Patrick Mahomes and Daniel Jones remain worth starting but face tough statistical matchups.

Which Week 5 QB sleepers should I target?

  • Justin Fields goes against the last-ranked Dallas Cowboys defense to kick off a highly favorable fantasy matchup stretch.
  • Jaxson Dart should run frequently at the Caesars Superdome against the New Orleans Saints.
  • C.J. Stroud gets a depleted Baltimore Ravens defense, and if the Houston Texans involve Jayden Higgins more while also continuing to make Woody Marks the top RB, they could take a major leap offensively.
