The Cincinnati Reds designated one of the fastest players in baseball for assignment on Sunday.
Garrett Hampson was DFA'd to make roster space for Rece Hinds.
Hampson will go on waivers, and if he passes through, he can elect free agency or go to Triple-A.
Six years ago, Hampson was regarded as a top-100 prospect for the Rockies. But he's never quite broken through at the MLB level.
Hampson has played for the Rockies, Royals, Marlins, Diamondbacks and Reds.
With Cincy this season, Hampson had just 18 at bats, with three hits.

In his career, Hampson has 66 steals and is a career .238 hitter.
With his speed and ability to play both the infield and outfield, Hampson could have appeal to another team.
But the Reds decided his time with their ballclub was done, at least for now.
Hinds is a 24-year old outfielder called up from Triple-A to take Hampson's roster spot.
He's a career .231 MLB hitter but this season at Triple-A Louisville is hitting .298 with 18 doubles, 11 homers and 44 RBI.
