This didn’t take long.
Cincinnati Reds right-handed pitching prospect Chase Burns only made it to Triple-A this month. And now, on Tuesday, he’ll climb the final step of the ladder.
The Athletic reports that Burns will be called up from Triple-A Louisville to start against the New York Yankees on Tuesday.
It has the potential to be the start of a special era of Reds baseball, if Burns lives up to the hype.
He was the No. 2 overall pick in 2024. Burns began his college career at Tennessee and finished it as a superstar at Wake Forest.
He quickly rose through the minor leagues, and at the time of his promotion, he’s ranked the No. 11 prospect in all of baseball by MLB Pipeline.

Burns is 22 years old and was actually born in Naples, Italy.
He has made just two starts at Triple-A, but he has dominated. Across the two outings, he has thrown 12.1 innings, struck out 14, and allowed three runs.
The Reds are short on pitching depth, especially after placing Wade Miley on the injured list. Burns is, at worst, a great short-term solution.
Whether Burns ever goes back to the minor leagues is likely mostly up to him.
The Yankees are quite the first test. Their lineup can feature four MVPs (Aaron Judge, Paul Goldschmidt, Cody Bellinger, Giancarlo Stanton). Judge has been the best hitter on the planet this season.
But Burns won’t be intimidated. He’s too dang good for that.
So get fired up for Tuesday, Reds fans. It’s Burns day.
