Heading into Wednesday, the Houston Astros are still at the top of the AL West division. With a record of 72-60, they are 1.5 games ahead of the Seattle Mariners despite the Astros losing back-to-back games against struggling teams.

Injuries have contributed to the Astros' inconsistent play in August, but with Yordan Alvarez returning to the lineup on Tuesday, they will attempt to maintain their division lead.

With one player returning, another has run into a setback. Since being on the Astros' injured list since June, second baseman Brendan Rodgers suffered a setback in his rehab process.

Astros' Brendan Rodgers suffers injury setback, removed from rehab assignment

Second baseman Brendan Rodgers has been on the Astros' injured list since June after suffering an oblique strain. He was starting to work his way back, starting a rehab assignment at the beginning of this week.

However, less than a week in, Rodgers suffered multiple setbacks and was removed from his rehab assignment.

"Rodgers was originally sidelined with an oblique strain in mid-June, but he's since suffered a concussion and spine injury. There is no timeline for his return," CBS Sports wrote on Wednesday.

Houston signed the 29-year-old to a minor league deal this past offseason. The former No. 3 pick in the 205 MLB Draft spent his first six seasons in the big leagues with the Colorado Rockies.
