Cam Schlittler is doing things no New York Yankees rookie pitcher has ever done.
And the Yankees have had some pretty darn good pitchers.
But according to the YES Network, Schlittler is the first rookie pitcher in Yankees history to have two consecutive starts of at least 6.0 innings pitched with at least eight strikeouts.
On Monday night against the Nationals, he went exactly six innings and struck out eight in a win over the Nationals.
The time before, he went 6.2 innings against the Rays with another eight strikeouts.
In both starts, he didn't allow a single run.

Schlittler has been brilliant through eight MLB starts.
He has a 2.76 ERA in 42.1 innings of work, having allowed 36 hits and walked 19.
Schlittler has 46 strikeouts, more than a K an inning.
The 24-year old from Walpole, Massachusetts had high expectations when he was called up. But it seems that he has exceeded them.

He wasn't necessarily always this highly thought of. The Yankees needed only a seventh-round pick to take him out of Northeastern in 2022.
But the 6-foot-6 righty has grown up in a big way the past few seasons, and the Yankees are now reaping the rewards.
New York's second half hasn't been what it wanted. But if the Yankees can just make it to the postseason, they'll have to feel good on the nights they can put the baseball in Schlittler's hands.
