Yankees' Luke Weaver sends three-word message after poor outing image

The New York Yankees may not win the American League East, but they are still in a firm position for a Wild Card spot, and perhaps even the top Wild Card slot, which would reward them with a three-game home playoff series.

After taking two of three against the Boston Red Sox, New York has a mid-week three-game set with the Minnesota Twins. On Monday, New York lost the first game of the series by a score of 7-0, as the bullpen and the offense were shut down.

Luke Weaver was one of those players in the bullpen who didn't have his best performance, and he shared an honest message following the game.

Luke Weaver is not pleased with his outing against Twins

Carlos Rodon started the game for the Yankees, and he gave the team a chance by going six innings and giving up just two runs. The top five hitters in the Yankees order did not record a hit, so it may not have mattered, but Luke Weaver followed Rodon, and it's likley an outing he'd like to forget.

Weaver was only able to record one out, and he gave up five runs in the process.

"It was trash," said Weaver following the game about his outing.

In Weaver's last nine innings out of the bullpen, he's surrendered 12 earned runs and three home runs. He's been one of the Yankees' go-to options all season, but as of late, the wheels have fallen off a bit.

The Yankees now trail the Toronto Blue Jays by five games in the AL East, but still have a slight stranglehold on the top WC spot.

The problem New York faces now is who the coaching staff can trust at the back end of games. Devin Williams has been mainly a bust this season, but the inconsistencies of the Yankees' bullpen have been well-documented throughout the season.

As for the remaining two weeks in the Yankees' season, they cannot afford to keep dropping games that they should win, or it will cost them that home playoff series.
