Masyn Winn is having another solid season for the Cardinals, improving on his play since the All-Star break. Thus far in 2025, Winn is batting .253 with 124 hits, 51 RBIs and nine home runs.

Not to mention, he's played lockdown defense. Winn is tied for the major league lead in Outs Above Average with 22, tied with fellow Missouri shortstop Bobby Whitt Jr. His fielding run value of 17 ranks him in the 99th percentile as well.

Although his bat has been average, the 23-year-old has a great case to win the Platinum Glove award in the National League this season, all while playing through a serious injury.

It was recently revealed that Winn has been playing with a torn meniscus injury. Cardinals insiders Katie Woo and Derrick Goold broke the news with Goold revealing that Winn has been playing through the injury for months. Having been assured that he cannot aggravate his meniscus any further, Winn has decided to continue playing to finish out the year.

When asked about this decision, Winn conveyed a desire to compete and an unselfish attitude saying: “I feel like I owe it to these guys to finish the year strong,” Winn said. “We still technically have a shot (at the playoffs), and I want to compete for that. But more than anything, I want to be out there for my pitchers. I’ll have the offseason to recover, so I feel like I can play this one out.”

With 15 games remaining and St. Louis' playoff hopes dwindling, Winn’s decision highlights his toughness and determination.
