The Atlanta Falcons have stayed active in exploring potential trades this offseason. One name that continues to surface in trade discussions—though not necessarily someone the team is eager to move—is tight end Kyle Pitts. Entering the final year of his rookie contract, Pitts could be traded if the right offer comes along. His absence from OTAs sparked speculation about his future, but ESPN’s Adam Schefter clarified that it’s actually due to injury.
“While there has been speculation about his future in Atlanta, Falcons TE Kyle Pitts hasn’t been practicing at OTAs due to a strained muscle in his foot, per source,” Schefter wrote.
Meanwhile, a player the Falcons appear more motivated to move is veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins. Originally signed to be the franchise's leader for the next four years, Cousins could be on the move after just one season. With several teams likely to need a quarterback at some point during the year, Atlanta may be ready to strike.
“Every time a quarterback gets hurt, the Falcons are going to be like, ‘Hello, look at the guy we got,’” NFL Insider Ian Rapoport said. “He suggested that Atlanta could even land a premium draft pick by trading Cousins during the season if a team becomes desperate enough.”
One trade scenario gaining traction involves a potential reunion between Cousins and the Minnesota Vikings. With J.J. McCarthy still a question mark due to a major knee injury, the Vikings could be in the market for a proven starter.
“Well, it makes sense for all three sides, really, counting Cousins himself. He wants a chance to start and could use his no-trade clause to nix a deal to any place he doesn't want to go. But if he has to be a backup, we know he liked living in Minnesota and playing for the Vikings. Plus, J.J. McCarthy is still an unknown after his major knee injury, so maybe this could turn into more than just a QB2 destination,” ESPN’s Dan Graziano wrote.

Cousins does hold a no-trade clause, but a return to Minnesota—where he was once embraced by the fanbase and could have a real opportunity to start—might be too tempting for him to pass up.
