Josh Allen reveals key to Bills supreme run game image

The Buffalo Bills, over the past couple of seasons, have been one of the best running teams in football, thanks to James Cook and Josh Allen for the most part.

And through two weeks of the 2025 season, Buffalo has been blistering running the football behind a stout offensive line that could be seen as one of the best in football.

Averaging 166 rushing yards per game, the Bills have been able to establish their physical identity, and the New York Jets in Week 2 were powerless to stop it.

But what has been the reason for Buffalo's hot start running the football?

“I think it's our guys up front communicating well, understanding their assignments,” Allen said. "Krome [Austin Kromer, offensive line coach] and Austin [Gund, assistant offensive line coach] do such a good job of displaying fronts and different types of looks that we're going to be getting throughout the week.

"We spend a lot of time on it, and it pays dividends on the field. When you got a group that's that smart, that talented, and you got backs that are willing to trust what they're seeing, typically you're going to get good results.”

Bills run game one of the best

It's nothing that we already don't know, right?

James Cook monstered the Jets to the tune of 132 yards and two touchdowns from 21 carries, with the Bills, in total through two games, having 332 rushing yards.

That is some start.

But it isn't just Cook. Allen (89 yards), Ty Johnson (30), Ray Davis (26), and Elijah Moore (14) have all played their role. Oh, and the Bills have scored six rushing touchdowns already, too.

So, things are rolling for Joe Brady's offense, and we haven't even mentioned the passing game with Allen yet, either. The Bills are exactly who we thought they'd be in preseason.

A genuine Super Bowl contender, and the run game is helping Sean McDermott's team play some of the best football in the league right now.
