The Dallas Cowboys are going into the draft with a clear need at wide receiver. They have CeeDee Lamb, but no real threats besides him on their offense.
An anonymous general manager recently told NFL Insider Jordan Schultz that George Pickens is "more available than people think." Schultz noted that the Green Bay Packers have a serious interest, but they are not the only team.
"Sources: Multiple teams have brought up (Pittsburgh Steelers) WR George Pickens in trade discussions, and he’s a name to watch this week," Schultz wrote on X. "Pittsburgh isn’t actively shopping him, but the conversations have taken place. Pickens is entering the final year of his contract.
Pickens is wildly talented, but the quarterback situation in Pittsburgh has made it tough for him to really shine. He had 900 yards last year and was a 1,000-yard receiver in 2023. Spotrac projects him to sign a four-year, $94 million deal in free agency. The Steelers just gave DK Metcalf a $150 million deal and Schultz was told by a general manager that it's not in the Steelers nature to spend big on two wide outs.
The Cowboys adding Pickens would fall in line with Jerry Jones comments about the team exploring two "substantive" trades. Pickens would likely cost the Cowboys a couple of Day 2 or 3 picks. However, pairing him with Lamb and Dak Prescott would be a b breath of fresh air for the Cowboys.

To make matters even more complicated for the Steelers, Pickens has unfollowed the team on Instagram. With the NFL Draft starting tonight, the Cowboys could swing a trade for Pickens and spend their first-round pick on a different position.
