When a team trades a franchise great like the Green Bay Packers traded Davante Adams, they had better win the trade.

Of course, the Packers traded Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for a first- and second-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft. Las Vegas then signed the veteran wideout to a five-year, $141.25 million deal.

The Packers turned around and used one of those picks to draft linebacker Quay Walker, and the other pick was part of the package to move up for wide receiver Christian Watson.

ESPN's Bill Barnwell looked back at the trade for the Packers and ruled it a "clear win" for Green Bay.

"The Packers have missed Adams, but this was an incredibly short-sighted deal for the Raiders that hasn't aged remotely well," Barnwell wrote.

Adams was productive in his two full seasons with the Raiders after tallying 1,516 yards in 2022 and 1,144 yards in 2023, although the Raiders finished below .500 in each campaign and missed the postseason, so he didn't come close to moving the needle enough to get the Raiders over the hump.

The beginning of the end for Adams with the Raiders was when the team cut ties with quarterback Derek Carr after the 2022 season, as Carr was one of the biggest reasons Adams wanted to play in Las Vegas in the first place.

Adams then had to deal with a lackluster quarterback situation for the next season-plus, and with the Raiders clearly going nowhere in 2024, the four-time Pro Bowler became disgruntled and requested a trade, which the Raiders obliged.

While it's true the Packers never replaced Adams, Walker has developed into a quality starter and Watson is a solid receiver when he is on the field.

And, when you compare what the Packers got for Adams with what other receivers have been traded for in recent years, the deal looks even better.
