The Las Vegas Raiders did not escape their preseason finale on Saturday night unscathed after quarterback Aidan O'Connell exited early with an injury.
O'Connell entered the game after the starting offense got the nod for one drive. After two series, O'Connell did not return to the game and was replaced by Cam Miller, who ended up finishing out the contest.
The former fourth-round pick later emerged on the sideline with a brace on his right hand and wrist. After the game, Raiders head coach Pete Carroll gave an update on O'Connell's status and it wasn't good for the Purdue product.
Here's the latest news.
Aidan O'Connell injury update
According to Carroll, O'Connell suffered a fractured right wrist and his timeline for recovery will be six to eight weeks.
"He fractured his wrist," Carroll said. "He's hurt. It's going to be a while. He'll have to get that fixed, so that's a big blow for us."
With O'Connell sidelined and headed for injured reserve, the Raiders have to decide if they're going to depend on Cam Miller as Geno Smith's backup, or if they're going to bring someone else in.
The North Dakota State product has definitely shown flashes this offseason and reports suggest the team is high on him.
Miller's best game came in preseason Week 1, but he came back down to earth a bit in the second preseason contest. On Saturday night, he completed 12-of-24 passes for 102 yards and failed to lead the Raiders on a single scoring drive.
The Raiders will trim their roster down to 53 players on Tuesday. It's possible they could wait until after that to add a quarterback, if they do at all.
