Chargers hoping for a reason to pay Justin Herbert an extra $2.5 million image

Justin Herbert is the franchise quarterback for the Los Angeles Chargers.

With that comes a contract well into the nine figures.

But as the Chargers enter the 2025 NFL season, they'd love to pay Herbert an additional $2.5 million.

That's because of how Herbert's contract incentives are set up.

If he wins the AFC championship, it's an extra $1.25 million. And if he wins the Super Bowl, add $1.25 million to that, per Spotrac.

A sweet sum of $2.5 million that would be well worth it.

Herbert will have to contend with an AFC West that features Patrick Mahomes, Bo Nix and now Geno Smith.

And then the rest of the AFC is loaded with the likes of Josh Allen, Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson.

If Herbert makes it through that, he deserves an extra payday, for sure.
