The Vikings and Falcons will face off in a rematch of quarterbacks who last met in the College Football Playoff championship game in 2024.

J.J. McCarthy and the Michigan Wolverines took down Michael Penix Jr. and the Washington Huskies months before both were taken in the first round of the NFL Draft. Penix was taken No. 8 overall by Atlanta, while McCarthy went two picks later to Minnesota.

Now, both NFC quarterbacks will meet in a clash of ascending clubs. McCarthy's Vikings came back to beat Caleb Williams, the No. 1 pick from that same draft, and the Bears. Penix's Falcons, meanwhile, failed to rally in a Week 1 loss to the Buccaneers.
