Bruins reunion with Brad Marchand in free agency gets key update image

The Boston Bruins traded away Brad Marchand at the trade deadline to give their franchise legend a chance to chase the Stanley Cup.

And as the Bruins sat at home during the postseason, they watched Marchand play hero on multiple occasions as the Florida Panthers did indeed hoist the Cup.

Now, Marchand is entering free agency. The initial inklings suggested Marchand would go back to Florida.

But now, the Bruins are back in play.

The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun wrote on X that the Bruins are hoping to talking to Marchand on Tuesday when free agency opens.

"The Bruins would certainly be open to bringing him back," LeBrun writes. "But again, perhaps Marchand re-signs in Florida."

Marchand was a third-round pick by Boston in 2006.

He has played 16 seasons in a Bruins uniform. That includes 422 goals, 554 assists and 1,024 hits.

Bruins fans would be fired up to have Marchand coming back to town.

LeBrun reports the Maple Leafs are also interested, which could throw a wrench into things.

But at this point, Bruins fans will probably take that tiny bit of hope.
