The Buffalo Sabres traded away one winger when they sent JJ Peterka to Utah.
They made sure to keep another in town on Friday with news of a contract extension.
The Sabres announced that Jack Quinn is signing a two-year extension worth $6.75 million total. It avoids him entering restricted free agency on July 1.
Quinn, an Ottawa native, was the No. 8 overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft by Buffalo.
He's 23 years old, and he set career highs in goals (15) and assists (24) during the 2024-25 season.

The Sabres' announcement of the news included these strong statistics:
- In his last 50 games of the season, Quinn had 34 points (14 goals, 20 assists)
- In that span, his 14 goals were fourth-most on Buffalo

Quinn's extension will run through 2026-27.
The biggest-name RFA remaining for Buffalo who doesn't have a new deal is Bowen Byram. He's been involved in trade rumors, and his future isn't certain. But at least the Sabres know they've still got Quinn.
