The St. Louis Blues are looking to get rid of one of the NHL's most experienced defensive players.
They've placed 34-year old defenseman Nick Leddy on waivers, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
Leddy can now be claimed by another team.
He's entering the final season of his contract, which has a cap hit of $4 million but will only pay out $3 million, according to Pro Hockey Rumors.

The Blues were reportedly seeking a Leddy trade, but none had come together yet.
Leddy has played 13 seasons in the NHL. He was a first-round pick by Minnesota in 2009.
He has played for the Blackhawks, Islanders, Red Wings and Blues.
In 1,042 NHL games, Leddy has 75 goals, 341 assists, 1,129 blocked shots and 844 hits.

This past season with St. Louis, Leddy was limited to 31 games, scoring two goals and dishing out three assists.
If Leddy clears waivers, he could accept an AHL assignment or pursue a mutual termination to become a free agent.
Either way, it seems his time in St. Louis is fast approaching its conclusion.
