Pius Suter could wind up in a very fascinating free agent destination.
The Vancouver Canucks star has been linked in free agency to the Toronto Maple Leafs. ESPN reported the news of the Leafs’ interest in Suter and Mikael Granlund.
An addition of Suter for the Leafs would be quite the blow to the Canucks.
Suter is projected by AFP Analytics to get a four-year contract worth $20 million total ($5 million AAV).
He’s coming off a career-high 46-point season in which his percentage of shots that turned into goals was much higher than it had been the rest of his career.
Despite that, someone is going to pay Suter. Maybe it’ll be the Leafs.

Toronto has a lot of free agent pieces to figure out, which could determine the money they have to pay Suter. John Tavares is up for a potential contract and seems to want to stay with the Maple Leafs. Mitch Marner is probably leaving to get a record contract elsewhere.
Suter is 29 years old, and this is probably his main chance to get a big deal, so don’t be surprised if he goes to the highest bidder. And if that’s Toronto, it’d be quite the match, from one end of Canada to the other.
