There have been some exciting events for the Toronto Maple Leafs over the past few days.

The Maple Leafs defeated the Ottawa Senators in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, winning the series 4-2 after a 4-2 win on Thursday.

The Maple Leafs will take on the Florida Panthers on Monday night, a very difficult series for two of the better teams in the NHL.

However, outside of hockey, Toronto's star, Mitch Marner, welcomed his first child ahead of the series against the Panthers.

He's expected to return to the Scotiabank Arena before the first game of the series, but this is a moment bigger than hockey.

Speaking to reporters about the new addition to his family, Maple Leafs’ star John Tavares spoke about the moment and offered well wishes for his baby boy and his family.

“It gives you tremendous perspective and meaning to life,” Tavares said, per PFSN. “For him, it has been probably real emotional, and you try to soak it all in. It’s really special. Really happy for Mitchy and his wife and his family.”

Marner impressed during the Maple Leafs’ first-round series against the Senators, posting eight points, with seven of them coming from an assist.

He'll have to be much better against the Panthers, who many believe might be the top team in the NHL entering the second round. For a Maple Leafs franchise desperate to win a Stanley Cup, Marner will likely be why this team has a chance.

Hopefully, he'll be able to add to his new lifestyle with a Stanley Cup ring.
