Osasuna 1 : 0 Valencia
Budimir pushes Osasuna ahead as Jose Gaya sees red
Early in the match against Valencia, it was Osasuna’s Ante Budimir who opened the scoring when he struck a lobbed cross into the back of the Valencia net. Osasuna triggered a run down the right flank before centering the ball to a lurking Budimir for the decisive goal.
Just a few minutes later, Jose Gaya was attempting to play the ball in his own half and clumsily interfered with Victor Munoz on what could have been a clear goal-scoring opportunity. As a result, Gaya was dismissed from the match with a red card, leaving his Valencia squad with just 10 men for the rest of the match.
In the 87th minute, Osasuna’s Jon Moncayola ripped a long shot towards the far post, but Valencia’s Julien Agirrezabala nullified the effort with a diving save to keep his team in the contest. Ultimately, Osasuna would see out the victory and take three points from the match.
Villareal 5 : 0 Girona
Tajon Buchanan nets hat trick as Villareal batter Girona
With a pair of goals coming from Villareal’s Tajon Buchanan in the first half, it was Buchanan’s initial goal that struck a chord across the stadium. Buchanan received the ball along the right flank, took on his man and cut towards the net before sending his shot top-shelf and near-post for the goal, giving Villareal a two-goal edge in the process. After scoring in the 16th minute, Buchanan doubled his output with a strike in the 28th minute to push Villareal ahead by a 4-0 margin.
Tajon Buchanan goal! Amazing skill to get past his man and finishes it beautifully to give Villarreal the 2-0 lead vs Girona. His 1st goal of the season. #CanMNT pic.twitter.com/WIbQ8yto2Z

In the second half, Buchanan would cap off his stellar performance with another goal, this one coming in the 64th minute, to help Villareal batter Girona by a five-goal total.
Real Oviedo : Real Madrid
Real Madrid defense looking to repeat sharp performance this weekend
It is well known that manager Xabi Alonso will bring a different style of play to Real Madrid than what was observed under Carlo Ancelotti, and Los Blancos provided a look into that future last weekend. Particularly on defense, Alonso’s side was precise in building up from the back with new additions Alvaro Carreras and Dean Huijsen shining in that regard. Carreras completed 57 passes into the final third last weekend, which topped all La Liga players, and Huijsen completed 95 total passes at a 94% clip last weekend in his own right.
So, if last weekend’s victory over Osasuna was any indication on what’s to come for Real Madrid, expect Alonso’s squad to operate with composure and accuracy during build-up play. Perhaps Real Madrid will show an expanded role from its new defensive players in today’s match against Real Oviedo.
