Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Neeraj Chopra will be the star attraction in the contingent and will spearhead India's challenge in the upcoming World Athletics Championships.

The 2022 edition of the World Athletics Championships saw India's best performance in history where six Indian athletes reached the finals and Chopra himself won the silver medal. This time around, the Olympic gold medal will aim for a first-place finish.

The Union Sports Ministry confirmed on Tuesday via a statement that they will be funding the Indian contingent's trip to Budapest and would bare all costs including the team's training cost, boarding/lodging costs, airfare, visa costs and Out of Pocket Allowance (OPA) among other expenditures.
