Who won Caribbean Premier League 2025? Trinbago Knight Riders create history with CPL title image

After more than a month of pulsating cricket, the Trinbago Knight Riders have once again risen to the top, clinching their fifth CPL crown and cementing their place as the cricket league's most dominant force.

Another star will now be stitched onto their famous jerseys, a symbol of yet another golden chapter in their history.

On Sunday, TKR got the better of the Guyana Amazon Warriors by three wickets in the 2025 CPL final, wrapping up the chase with two overs to spare. Crucial late bursts from seasoned campaigners Kieron Pollard and Sunil Narine tipped the scales in their favor, ensuring the Knight Riders held their nerve on the big stage.

With a squad packed with veterans, including Pollard, Narine, Nicholas Pooran, and Andre Russell, TKR fielded the oldest starting XI ever seen in a CPL final, and used that wealth of experience to perfection.

Saurabh Netravalkar was the pick of the bowlers, bagging three scalps, while the batters chipped in collectively to script yet another title-winning story for Trinbago.

Who won CPL 2024?

The Saint Lucia Kings won the Caribbean Premier League 2024, claiming their maiden title by defeating the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the final on October 6, 2024.

Chasing a target of 139 runs at the Providence Stadium in Guyana, the Kings delivered a composed performance to win by 6 wickets with 11 balls remaining.

Key contributions from Roston Chase and Aaron Jones in the crucial chase helped secure a historic victory for the franchise and brought immense joy to their fans, marking a memorable triumph after several close calls in previous CPL editions.

Why are Indian players not playing CPL?

Indian players are absent from the CPL and other foreign T20 leagues due to long-standing BCCI policies in place since around 2010. The rule emerged when the Big Bash League was being planned, and Cricket Australia showed interest in signing Indian stars like Rohit Sharma.

The BCCI anticipated that such participation could boost rival leagues’ viewership and media value, reduce the IPL’s exclusivity, and weaken its commercial dominance.

Under the current framework, active Indian male cricketers are barred from playing in any overseas T20 league. Only those who have fully retired from both international and domestic cricket can participate, and even then, they must obtain formal BCCI approval.

Where is the CPL Final 2025 venue?

The CPL 2025 Final will be held at Providence Stadium in Guyana on September 21, 2025. This marks the fourth consecutive year that Guyana will host the CPL final.

When is the CPL 2026 season?

While the exact dates for CPL 2026 have not been officially announced yet, the tournament traditionally follows a consistent annual schedule. Based on the established pattern, CPL 2026 is expected to run from mid-August to late September 2026.

What has been confirmed is that the CPL 2026 final will be hosted at the iconic Kensington Oval in Barbados for the very first time. This marks a significant milestone as Barbados has never previously hosted a CPL final, despite the Barbados Royals (formerly Tridents) winning the tournament twice in 2014 and 2019.
