Indian opener and Sunrisers Hyderabad star Abhishek Sharma has been in stellar form in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025. The southpaw is India's highest scorer so far with 61 runs in two matches.

While the runs tally is relatively low, it is primarily due to India's exceptional bowling performances, which have restricted their opponents to very low totals.

Sharma has maintained a strike rate of 210.34 and has hit six sixes and five fours. His batting particularly grabbed eyeballs after he completely dominated against ace Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Afridi and smashed the speedster during India's run chase against Pakistan last Sunday.

The young left-hand batter has equally dominated against spin and fast bowlers, but what has captured everyone's attention is his ability to seamlessly play against pacers, who are known to be extremely fast.

Abhishek Sharma's father reveals how the Indian opener learned to play fast bowlers

Speaking to BCCI's official media channel, Abhishek Sharma's father Rajkumar spilled the beans on how his son learned to face fast bowlers.

He said: "When I used to train Abhishek, I made him face bowlers, who bowled 150 KMPH during his U-16 days. I trained him like that. All the kids used to say, brother, he might get hurt. I used to ask him, 'Abhishek, are you okay facing bowlers bowling 150 KMPH?' He used to say father, 'make him bowl faster, I'll play that as well'. So, this is how his technique was formed. His power hitting is natural."
