There were a lot of questions about the left-handers' selection ahead of the experienced Shreyas Iyer, however, all of it took a backseat as Rinku answered the critics in a smashing fashion.

Now, ahead of the Asia Cup, the UP batter has shed light on his batting position, stating that he is not just a finisher, but can bat at any position required by his side.

Rinku Singh believes he can bat anywhere in the lineup

Rinku, who is often considered a finisher, has clarified his stance. He states that he can be versatile and bat at any position, as per his side's requirements. He also states that he has always performed well when sent ahead at No. 5 in the batting order.

Talking to RevSportz Global, Rinku spoke about being typecast as a finisher,

"Such things don't cross my mind. I know I performed well in the IPL in 2023. I have batted at No.5. Even I feel bad (coming into bat late at 7 or 8), but it's fine, it's the team's need, whatever balls I get, I try to do well in that...I have played 33 matches for India...and scored three fifties batting at 5...so I can bat at any position," said Rinku.

Since his India debut in 2023, Rinku has played 33 T20Is for India, scoring 546 runs at an average of 42. He has also scored three half-centuries, all of which came batting at No.5.

The star batter recently smashed a wonderful century in the UP T20 League, taking his side, Meerut Mavericks, to an exceptional victory.

Chasing 168 against the Gorakhpur Lions, Rinku went into bat when his side was struggling at 38/4. He scored 108 in just 48 deliveries and took his side to victory with 7 balls to spare.

What's next for Rinku Singh?

Rinku has been picked on the Indian T20I side and will travel to the United Arab Emirates to be featured in the ACC Men's Asia Cup, starting on September 9th.

The tournament would give the UP batter a wonderful opportunity to showcase his class and silence the critics who questioned his place in the side.

The batter has seen a lean patch in the past few years, with limited opportunities, in both the IPL and the International arena. His focus would be to make full use of whatever chances he gets in the upcoming continental event and put forward a strong case for the T20 World Cup selection.
