India started off the Test series against England away from home in some style with 359/3 on the board after being asked to bowl first.
In what was a very good Day 1 of the match and series for India, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and captain Shubman Gill smashed two brilliant centuries to put India in front early on in the match.

Ahead of the series, there were a few doubts around the inexperience in the batting order of the tourists with predictions mostly going against India.
Responding to one of those early predictions, former India opener, Navjot Singh Sidhu absolutely ripped apart the ex-England captain, Michael Vaughan who had touted England domination at home.

'They are pedestrians': Sidhu calls out English bowling after Vaughan's predictions
Ahead of the India tour of England, Michael Vaughan had predicted a 3-1 win for the hosts, "They [India] arrive again to lose," he had said before joining Sony Sports Netwrok's coverage for the series.

"Fools grow without watering. Michael Vaughan, your predictions. They’re always wrong. Look at your bowling attack. They’re pedestrians," he said.
"I mean, three of the Indian batsmen are stepping out and hitting them like spinners. Boss, noise proves nothing. Even a hen, while laying an egg, cackles as if she’s laying an asteroid," Sidhu added.
Vaughan is famous for his predictions and Cheteshwar Pujara also got into a banter with him and made him sign a photo frame of one of his tweets that predicted England 4-0 series win back in 2021 before it ended 2-2.
