Shubman Gill-led India kicked off the home series against West Indies with a bang as they comprehensively thrashed the visitors by an innings and 140 runs in the first Test match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

It was the first time Gill won as a Test captain on home soil. India delivered with both bat and ball and now the hosts will aim to seal a 2-0 series win and complete a whitewash over West Indies.

In the ongoing 2nd Test, India are firmly in control heading into Day 5 of the Delhi Test. After bowling West Indies out in the final session, the hosts need just 58 more runs to win with nine wickets in hand.

10:30 am: West Indies started the day strong without losing a wicket. John Campbell scored his maiden Test century in Delhi. The team reduced the deficit to just 62 runs, reaching 208/2 at the first drinks break.

11:30 am: Lunch, Day 3: India continued their dominance in the morning session, picking up four wickets before lunch. Kuldeep Yadav ran through the middle order with three quick strikes, while Siraj cleaned up Warrican.

At 175/8, West Indies looked set to fold early, but a stubborn 42-run stand between Phillip and Pierre frustrated India. The hosts reached 217/8 at lunch, still trailing by 301 runs.

10:35 am: India dominated the first hour of Day 3 as Kuldeep Yadav ripped through the West Indies middle order, picking up three wickets. He cleaned up Shai Hope with one that didn’t spin, deceived Imlach with a classic leg-break, and had Greaves caught attempting a rash reverse-sweep.
