As the buildup to the India vs Pakistan clash continues, the clash has ignited a lot of debate beyond cricket. While fans eagerly wait for the high-voltage clash, political tensions surrounding the nations have created a lot of controversy.

Unlike the usual India-Pakistan game, the hype for the clash has died down this time around. The main reason for the same is the Pahalgham terror attack that happened a few months back, which increased the border tensions, so much so that the countries faced off in a war-like situation.

With both sides set to collide on Sunday in a league game, a possible boycott scenario has sparked debate amongst the fans. Several Indian fans and experts have raised their concerns over the game taking place, asking Team India to boycott the clash.

What happens if India boycotts the match vs Pakistan?

If Team India decides to boycott the game, then, as per the ACC rules, it will not be counted as a cancellation, but will be treated as a forfeit. In such a case, the Men In Green will be awarded full points for the game, while India won't be granted any points, and it will be counted as a defeat.

In case Pakistan gets the full points, the side will jump ahead of India in the points table, while India will face a must-win game against Oman.  The same rules would apply in the Super Four stage or even the final - meaning Pakistan could be declared winners by default if India refuses to play.

Both India and Pakistan are coming off victories in their opening encounters. India defeated the home side, UAE, in a one-sided affair as they chased down a small target of 58 in just 4.3 overs. Pakistan, on the other hand, registered a dominating victory against Oman, defeating them by 93 runs.

India will take on Pakistan in a Group A game on Sunday, September 14. The iconic Dubai International Stadium, also known as the 'Ring of Fire', will host the epic clash.

This will be the first time these two sides meet since diplomatic tensions arose in April this year. India and Pakistan last faced each other in the ICC Champions Trophy, where India registered a dominant victory thanks to Virat Kohli's wonderful century.

If everything goes as planned, the clash between the two Asian Giants is expected to produce a thriller. However, India, who are currently ranked No. 1 in the World and will start as the favourites ahead of the game.
