Gautam Gambhir's time as India's head coach has seen some bright moments in white-ball cricket but in the longer format, results are starting to raise serious questions.
With another Test series off to a poor start - this time in England - critics are turning up the heat on the former India opener.
They are demanding that he turn things around quickly or face the consequences. India’s five-wicket defeat at Headingley in the opening Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy has only added to the scrutiny.

After a series loss in New Zealand and another against Australia, Gambhir's red-ball record is drawing harsh attention.
What did Aakash Chopra say about Gautam Gambhir?
Former India batter Aakash Chopra has been one of the most vocal voices. He plainly said that results must follow now that the BCCI has fulfilled everything Gambhir has asked for.
"Whatever team management is asking for, it is being given. So, if this is the case, then you also need to deliver the results. Period. There is no excuse," Chopra said on his YouTube channel.
According to Chopra, while Shubman Gill deserves patience as a new captain, Gambhir can't hide behind that. The onus is on the head coach to take responsibility for the growing list of defeats.
India have won just one of their last nine Tests under Gambhir. Series defeats to New Zealand (3-0) and Australia (3-1) have put India on the back foot.

Their only Test series win under Gambhir was against Bangladesh.
"There is a lot of pressure on Gautam Gambhir. The pressure is absolutely mounting. If you look at his performances in Test cricket and red-ball cricket, you will find that he has not won a lot of matches."
"He has won 2 matches against Bangladesh and one against Australia. However, we lost three against New Zealand, three against Australia and one against England. He has been losing and losing," added Chopra.
With the second Test against England approaching and India desperate to stay in the series, the pressure is unmistakable. If results don't improve, the questions around Gambhir's future will only grow louder.
