Gill announced himself in some style after being made the red-ball captain, as he scored more than 750 runs in his first Test Tour as captain in England

The batter from Punjab broke several batting records, including the highest individual score by an Indian Captain (269), as he led his young side to a historic series draw under tough English conditions

Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali have now lauded the Indian skipper, whom they feel would soon make it to the best four players in the world.

"Shubman Gill just the way he bats, the way he makes it look quite easy. I think he's been around again for another three to four years, and he has performed consistently enough, probably more so, he has performed in ODIs and T20s," said the duo in the Beard Before Wicket Podcast.

Gill has been a significant part of the Indian setup for the past few years. His ODI numbers have been staggering, while his Test and T20I numbers are just getting better with every game.

He averages 59 in ODIs, while his Yest average has moved up significantly to 41.35. His T20I numbers aren't that great by his standards, but are consistently improving. Gill, however, has a T20I hundred to his name.

"I think Test matches now, you can see this series in England, like his technique has got so much better...he's a top player, very nice, exquisite, very stylish, and everybody speaks very highly of him, and the time he has on the short ball is big. He plays the short ball differently, and not many people can do that," added the English duo.

Gill almost smashes the short ball more towards the mid-wicket region. His unique way of playing the short on the front foot has caught a lot of people's attention and is testimony to how much time he has when he bats.

The Indian red ball skipper is currently a part of India's T20I squad for the Asia Cup. His next challenge will be the West Indies home series that consists of two Tests starting next month
