Saim Ayub came into the Asia Cup 2025 with big hopes, but things have gone very bad for him. What looked like a good chance to prove himself has now become a tournament he will wants to forget.

The left-hander entered the tournament with high hopes, but instead, he has ended up creating a record that no batter would ever want to be associated with.

What unwanted record did Saim Ayub create in Asia Cup 2025?

On September 25 in Dubai, during Pakistan’s must-win clash against Bangladesh, Ayub fell for his fourth duck of the tournament.

Chasing a simple ball, he handed a catch to mid-on in the second over and walked back after facing only three deliveries.

With that dismissal, the 23-year-old became the first top-order batter in T20I history to register four ducks in a single competition.

It is a record that underlines how badly things have gone for him and for Pakistan’s batting starts in the powerplay.

How has Saim Ayub performed across the tournament?

From six matches in this Asia Cup, Ayub has managed only 23 runs in total, including four ducks.

His scores read: 0 (vs Oman), 0 (vs India), 0 (vs UAE), 21 (vs India again), 2 (vs Sri Lanka), and 0 (vs Bangladesh).

Fans who once saw him as a bright young prospect have been left frustrated, especially

since his failures have left Pakistan struggling to find momentum at the top. With this latest duck, his career tally now stands at nine T20I ducks, just one short of Umar Akmal’s Pakistan record of ten.
