Chelsea's summer has been anything but boring. The London club won the Club World Cup and has made five signings already.

Enzo Maresca is still working to bring Jorrel Hato and Xavi Ximons in, as well as offload a host of players.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have agreed a deal with Crystal Palace for their 18-year-old winger Jesse Derry.

Derry was wanted by eight European clubs, and he looked all set for a move to Bayern Munich before Chelsea made their move for the Englishman.

Why did Chelsea want Derry?

Chelsea have remained focused on signing young, top-class players. Todd Boehly, the owner of Chelsea, has made it clear that the club should be focusing on talented youth players.

Estevao, Geovany Quenda, and Kendry Paez are all part of Chelsea's younger generation of players from around the world.

Derry, who has been described as a 'sensation', has scored 19 goals in the U-18 Premier League for Palace.

He is expected to undergo his medical with Chelsea on July 25, and it's yet to be seen whether Derry will be loaned out to gain more first-team experience or if he'll stay with Chelsea's youth sides.
