While some rumours suggest the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are interested and approached RR for a cash trade, others link him to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as a long-term replacement for MS Dhoni.

Amidst all the buzz around Samson's possible exit from the pink city, the RR social media team shared a cryptic post that hinted Dhurv Jurel could be the franchise's next leader if Samson leaves.

Now the Indian wicket-keeper batter, who recently featured for the national team in the Test tour of England, has opened up on the possibility of accepting a leadership role at RR.

Speaking on Vivek Sethia's YouTube channel, Jurel said: "What I would say is that whatever role I get from Rajasthan Royals doesn’t matter, because they gave me an opportunity when I especially needed it, when I had to show my talent on a big platform. I would say Rajasthan Royals changed my life. They gave me the chance to showcase my ability. So it doesn’t matter whether I get the captaincy or not. From my side, I want to give 2000% for Rajasthan Royals.

"I want to win the championship. Me, Riyan, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju bhai, all of us feel the same way and we have the potential to do it. So our thought process always revolves around how we can win the championship. Whoever becomes captain, our goal is the same, we want to win the championship. And for that, we will do whatever it takes."

Jurel has been named among the five standbys in India's Asia Cup squad, although he failed to make the main roster as Samson and Jitesh Sharma were picked as first and second choice keepers, respectively.
