There have been many family names in the IPL but none have done what Shaun and Mitchell Marsh just achieved.

In IPL 2025, Mitchell finally joined his elder brother on the list of century-makers and in doing so, the Marsh brothers became the first pair of siblings ever to score hundreds in IPL history.

This moment took 17 years to arrive. Shaun had smashed a ton way back in the very first IPL season in 2008. And now in 2025, it was Mitchell’s turn to shine.

How did Mitchell Marsh reach his first IPL hundred?

Mitchell, playing for Lucknow Super Giants, opened the innings with Aiden Markram and took his time early on. He got to his fifty in 33 balls. But after that, he changed gears completely.

The highlight of his knock came in the 12th over when he took on Rashid Khan and smashed him for five boundaries in a row- 6, 4, 6, 4, 4. That burst pushed him well past the 50s and into three figures.

He finally fell for 117 off 64 balls, including 10 fours and 8 sixes. It was his first ever IPL century and also the first century by a non-Indian player in IPL 2025.

This season has been good for Mitchell. He has been in strong form throughout IPL 2025. With this hundred, he has also crossed the 500-run mark in the tournament. He became the 11th Australian to score an IPL century.

When did Shaun Marsh get his IPL century?

Shaun Marsh had lit up the IPL in its debut season in 2008. Playing for Kings XI Punjab (now known as Punjab Kings), he scored a blistering 115 off 69 balls against Rajasthan Royals.
