Rohit Sharma has been one of the key figures in building Mumbai Indians' (MI) legacy in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Mumbaikar took over in 2013 and led the franchise to their first-ever IPL trophy.
Since then, Mumbai haven't looked back and have gone on to achieve great things in the years to come.

Mumbai Indians have made a name for themselves in the Indian Premier League - the comeback kings. There have been multiple instances where Mumbai looked way out of the game, when suddenly a shift in momentum changed the game in their favour.
In 2014, Mumbai lost their first five matches of the season but miraculously turned it around by winning seven of their remaining nine games to make it to the playoffs. However, their dream ended prematurely at the hands of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Eliminator.
In the following year, Mumbai lost their first four matches but went on to win the IPL title after defeating their arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings, twice - once in Qualifier 1 and again in the Final.
After a harrowing 2024 season where they finished bottom of the table, Mumbai vowed to come back stronger but faced difficulties early on this season. With just one win in the first five matches, they managed to defeat the then unbeaten Delhi Capitals (DC), which started a turnaround that ended with a place in the playoffs.

Rohit Sharma sheds light on MI's legacy
Rohit Sharma has seen the highs and lows of the Mumbai Indians franchise up close, as he remains pivotal to the success the franchise has achieved over the years. From being their first title-winning captain to being the highest scorer of the team, Sharma has been through it all.
Sharma recently revealed in a conversation with Jatin Sapru on Star Sports about how Mumbai manage to come back every time they have faced a setback. Check out the tweet below.

"Every IPL season brings something different in terms of excitement. We didn't have a great season last year. So whenever you don't have a good season in a previous year, you'll always want to try and correct it in the coming season."
He further mentioned that there have been instances where Mumbai have come back hard after a disastrous season and have gone on to win the trophy.

"That is what Mumbai has done pretty well in the past, where we've had an off season, but come back really hard in the next one and even went to win the trophy as well. Again, like, new team, there a lot of new guys. So we will see what happens."
No matter the circumstances, Mumbai have always found a way to turn in around when the stakes are high. Sharma has played an integral part in Mumbai's five title-winning campaings and will look to repeat it with a record sixth IPL title this season.
Mumbai face Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Qualifier 2 match of the season on Sunday, June 1, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
