When the worlds of sports and pop culture collide, the masses take notice. And when a three-time Super Bowl champion gets engaged to one of the biggest pop stars of all time, it becomes a massive viral moment.

On Tuesday, Aug. 26, Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift took to Instagram to announce their engagement. The news quickly made headlines and drew reactions from around the world, including many notable ones from the official accounts of professional sports teams.

In many ways, these accounts serve as the perfect intersection of sports and pop culture, and their administrators took full advantage. Here’s how sports accounts used social media to chime in on some of the biggest news of the NFL preseason.

The NFL was among the first to post, sharing two posts. First was a congratulatory reshare of the engagement photo, followed by a video of Swift saying, "This is so crazy. I cannot believe this is really happening. I'm in shock," after last year's AFC Championship game. The copy for the second post simply read "same."

Ahead of the new release of the "New Heights" podcast, Travis' brother, Jason, shared a promotional clip that included a heartfelt congratulations to his younger brother and future sister-in-law.

Kelce's team called it a fairytale.

Fittingly, the NHL called on a photo of Swift and Kelce at the Stanley Cup Finals to share well-wishes on their engagement.

The Florida Panthers followed suit, as did two more NHL teams in the Ducks and Predators.

In the baseball world, the Guardians released their 2026 schedule on Tuesday, but jokingly complained that the engagement news took away from their drop.

As the US Open continues, their official account shared their congratulations along with footage of the couple from last year's event.

The Warriors made it personal, sharing a photo of Stephen Curry golfing with Kelce, complete with Kelce's trademark "Alright nah" phrase and a ring emoji.

Elsewhere in the NBA, the Hawks kept it simple, writing that "it" happened.

Northwestern Athletics got creative, calling back to a nearly 16-year-old post in which Kelce said "good lookin northwestern!!" The Wildcats responded by sharing an engagement photo and a similar message. 

The Celtics decided to spin things forward, giving fans a countdown until Swift's next studio album and the franchise's first game of the 2025-26 NBA season. 

The Heat also got creative, using an old reaction picture of Bam Adebayo to share their response to the news.

After the Spurs' Coyote mascot donned a Kelce jersey and a Swift-inspired wig, they used those photos as a picture-perfect reaction. 

The Hornets, winners of the 2025 NBA Summer League championship, likened their summer championship rings to Swift's newest accessory: her engagement ring.
