While Shedeur Sanders waits for his shot for a first start with the Cleveland Browns, his brother Shilo is still looking for a new team.

Shilo Sanders was waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as part of their final roster cuts back in August having signed with them as an undrafted free agent out of Colorado.

The safety, who, like quarterback Shedeur, is the son of Hall of Fame cornerback and Colorado head coach Deion Sanders, has yet to catch on with another team.

But he had a chance to impress one of Deion's former teams this week.

Shilo works out for 49ers

Indeed, Shilo Sanders had a work out with the San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday.

Deion Sanders was part of the last 49ers team to win a Super Bowl, doing so in the 1994 season, his lone campaign with San Francisco before joining the Dallas Cowboys.

There is no indication yet that the workout will lead to a signing.

The 49ers have several options at the safety position. Rookie fifth-round pick Marques Sigle has impressed starting next to Jason Pinnock, while Ji'Ayir Brown has excelled of late by showing his versatility in playing the 'big nickel' spot.

In addition, the 49ers will eventually get back second-year safety Malik Mustapha, who is recovering from a torn ACL he suffered in the final week of a strong rookie season.

San Francisco beat the Arizona Cardinals 16-15 in Week 3 to move to 3-0, with that victory something of a pyrrhic one as star defensive end Nick Bosa suffered a torn ACL.

It remains to be seen if Shilo Sanders will get the chance to join the 49ers' cause, but there's clearly still interest in him as a potential contributor at the highest level.
