Jadon Sancho is reportedly willing to accept a 50% wage cut to leave Manchester United, marking a significant shift in his stance as he looks for a way out of Old Trafford before the transfer window closes.

Once regarded as one of England’s brightest attacking talents, the 24-year-old now finds himself unwanted at United and short on options.

After a failed return to Borussia Dortmund on loan last season and limited interest due to his £300,000-per-week salary, Sancho appears ready to sacrifice income for a fresh start—possibly in Italy or Turkey.

It’s a dramatic comedown for a player who joined United in 2021 for £73 million amid huge expectations. Despite flashes of quality, Sancho struggled to establish himself.

Things came to a head in 2023 when a public falling-out with Erik ten Hag saw him exiled from the first team entirely.

After refusing to apologise after calling out the Dutchman over training criticisms, Sancho was banished to train alone, then loaned back to Dortmund in early 2024.

Chelsea reportedly explored a transfer earlier this summer, but Sancho rejected a reduced salary offer. That decision now looks costly. Dortmund were also open to keeping him beyond his loan, but not at Premier League wages.

Sancho’s willingness to take a pay cut reflects how much his stock has fallen in just a few years. A permanent exit from United now seems likely, with the club also keen to resolve the impasse before the end of the window.

Could this be his turning point?

For Sancho, a move abroad might offer the reset he needs—but it comes at a price, or rather, a lack thereof. The winger who once had Europe at his feet is now chasing a second chance, grounded by the weight of past ambition.
