Newcastle United could offload several squad names in the January transfer window.

The Magpies summer was dominated by the Alexander Isak exit saga as the Sweden international eventually completed a Premier League record move to Liverpool on September 1.

Part of Newcastle's initial resistance to let Isak leave was based on their concerns over being able to bring a suitable replacement.

As the clock ticked down on Tyneside, Eddie Howe openly admitted his concern over just having William Osula as his sole senior striker option, as Isak headed out of St. James' Park.

In a dramatic late twist, Howe broke the club's transfer record with a swoop for German star Nick Woltemade, and wrapped up a deal for long-term target Yoane Wissa.

Injury has blocked Wissa from making his club debut so far with Woltemade scoring four goals as part of a strong start from the former VfB Stuttgart.

As Wissa and Woltemade landed on the final day of the window, Osula was reportedly blocked from joining Eintracht Frankfurt, as Howe did not want to be left short in attack.

The 22-year-old has told Howe he wants to leave in January, after starting just two matches all season across all competitions, with a loan his preference.

Osula is determined to secure a spot in Denmark's 2026 FIFA World Cup squad, and he could consider a permanent exit, if the right offer lands as per Football Insider.

Newcastle are back in action after the international break away at Brighton & Hove Albion on October 18.
